LumSites is a perfect match for business already using Google Apps. There are deep relations between the two platforms: Email, Calendar, and Drive can be embedded using the widgets engine.

Add widgets

To edit content in LumSites, you organize your cells in the designer and then you pick the widgets you want to add in you cell. For each widget, you can define specific settings and add a title, a link and advanced visibility options.
Then, Google widgets will automatically synchronize data with Google accounts and display up-to-date information. For other widgets, contributors will be able to modify content without changing pre-defined settings.

1- Google Accounts

In episode 1 we have explained how to manage profile in LumSites. Once you have organize your groups and define permissions, you can add the Users List widget to display some users (or groups of users) into your page. You just have to select users in the User picker and your list is ready. Of course, if a user update its information or is removed from (or added in) a group, you don’t have to do anything, you’ll immediately see the modifications.

2- Gmail and Calendar

To reinforce the appropriation of your workplace, we suggest to add businesslike content. Two widgets ( Emails and Calendar ) enable you to display the latest emails and calendar events of the user. The content visualized by users will of course depend on connected profiles. People can stay on LumSites to work, they’ll be alerted of each new event or incoming email.

3- Google Drive

Two widgets enable to embed Google Drive in your LumSites page.

With Drive widget, you just display documents from a selected Drive folder (or by default user’s Google Drive) to provide an easy access to files.
With Files Management widget, you also select the folder to connect with but the widget enables to manage files in a Google Drive like interface. Users can directly work in LumSites the way they are used to.

5- You Tube

With the Video widget, you can insert any video from embedded code. You can obviously embed a YouTube video by copy and paste the code provided by YouTube (Click “Share” and “Embed”).

With these widgets, you can customize your digital workplace with Google integrated features. Users work with LumSites as with any other Google product, especially because LumSites interface follows Google Material Design guidelines.
