LumSites key features - Episode 02: Responsive Design

LumSites offers an out of the box high quality user interface, which works on every device. LumSites is designed in a responsive way so that users can get the same experience whether they are at the office or in mobility. You’ll see what’s underneath this design and find out good reasons to adopt such a solution to build your corporate sites.

User Experience

Here at LumApps, we are both customer- and user-oriented. Our product managers are fond of feedback because when you are deeply anchored in the solution like they are, it’s sometimes difficult to apprehend how end users will receive it.

In fact, Matthias Manoukian, our expert dedicated to UX subjects, refines LumSites interface all day long. He always looks after the nice user experience that would satisfy and match the needs of both CEOs and employees. His grail? A simple and intuitive platform designed to enhance employees’ interactions, collaboration and contribution.

All the platform is designed to facilitate users autonomy.
For example, the menu on top of all pages is very understandable with icons that people are used to.
In the same spirit, the window to edit content is as simple as a text editor.

All kind of users find up what they need in LumSites: experts keen of advanced features are well served, and non-IT users can handle the product in a very short time.

Our ultimate goal is to provide a platform easy-to-administrate for any end user, regardless of his IT background.
In fact, many companies like Veolia, ManpowerGroup, Merieux Nutrisciences have based their corporate internal portals on LumSites which are now updated by collaborators from communication department, thanks to the simplicity of the solution.
Also, the product makes such operating mode possible thanks to a great and flexible permission management (access and rights). For further information, read episode 01 on profiling.

Beautiful for smooth adoption

To encourage user adoption in LumSites, we are very sensitive to design.
Thus, to ensure high quality, performance and responsiveness in user experience, LumApps products follow Google Material Design guidelines. In this direction, we use LumX, our own open source framework, for all the components of the UI (modals, selects, dropdown, inputs...).
The theming capacities of LumSites are extensive and can be leveraged to design the platform to match branding guidelines effectively. This leads end users to feel comfortable in their new environment. It eases the transition between the current platform and LumSites.

As it is deeply integrated with Google Apps and follows Google Material Design guidelines, the product is coherent with the rest of the suite and users already know how to use it even before discovering it.

Accessible in mobility

People are connected all the time with several personal and professional devices. They access to a growing amount of information in their virtual workstation and they always need to keep in touch with all their center of interests. They personally get used to instantaneously interact with others and this is becoming crucial in the professional world.
That’s why LumApps products are made in responsive design. Users can access to their corporate platform with a high user experience whether they are connected with a computer, a smartphone or a tablet. No matter the device, all you need is a web browser.
Even on the road, collaborators access to their intranet on their smartphones. They can read corporate news, comment, like content or participate to communities. It reinforces the feeling of belonging to the company for people who are often out of the office.

Unifying tool

We notice two key success factors in unifying all your collaborators toward a coherent group strategy :
a corporate portal in the same line as your brand communication,
tools accessible from anywhere, at anytime, on any device.

For Google Apps users, it sounds sometimes like an obviousness to access your digital business environment wherever you are. But for traditional companies, the reality is rather different: you have to face to multiple systems depending on the entity you belong.
For people who are working at the headquarter, when they are going abroad, even within their company, they may not access to their usual workplace.
For people working in remote entities, it is even worst: everyday they use tools that are not integrated to corporate central system, it's hard to feel integrated in such a situation!
With LumSites, as it is the case with Google Apps for Work, no need to change the way you work, your business reflexes remain the same all over the globe.
